Daisyworld is the invention of James Lovelock and is designed to show how adaptive systems can create their own environment through feedback loops. Life itself can maintain a planet fit for life — within limits.
Daisies reflect or absorb incoming solar luminosity via their albedo. Barren ground also has an albedo. For some range of luminosity, combinations of black and white daisies can maintain the world temperature within their living range. At other values of luminosity, the system reaches a tipping point and the daisy system collapses.
Explore this interaction by changing the parameters of the daisies and the planet they live on.
